Oh The Details!

Even though we all want our wedding day to be perfect down to the smallest detail, the reality is that most likely it won’t be. Small glitches will pop up. A storm may roll in for an outdoor wedding, the flower girl may be too scarred to walk down the aisle, or the caterer may show up a little bit late. Lets face it, most brides have dreamed of their wedding day since they were little girls. Planning for such a joyous event can be fun, but it can also be very stressful due to the pressure we put on ourselves to get every little detail just right. While you can’t ensure your wedding day will be perfect, you can help greatly reduce the amount of stress and anxiety of preparing for your wedding by carefully planning the details in the months leading up to the big day. Instead of being overwhelmed by all the decisions that have to be made regarding your wedding dress, colors, theme, vendors, invitations, and other important details, try to focus on tackling the decisions in small chunks. Once you have the date selected, map out a plan for handling each decision that has to be made for your wedding.

First select the location of your ceremony. This should be done as soon as you select a date so that you can ensure that location of your dreams will be available. Next select your vendors. Ask for referrals from your friends, co-workers, and speak to previous customers of the vendors that you are thinking of using. Once the date and location have been selected then notify your guests in case they need to book hotels or airline flights. This is especially important if you are planning a destination wedding.

After you have taken care of the location and vendors, then you can select your wedding dress, invitations, set up your gift registry, and select the members of your wedding party. At least a couple of months before the wedding you will need to select the wedding favors, bridal party gifts, your hairstyle, make up, and wedding shoes.

By breaking down your wedding planning details into small chunks planning for your wedding will be a lot less stressful allowing you to enjoy the fun of preparing for your big day. While you can’t guarantee nothing will go wrong on your big day, by careful planning you can reduce the minor problems as much as possible. Even if small glitches do pop up, do your best to brush them aside. You have been preparing for it for months now its time to enjoy your very special day!
